About Mr. Carroll

Hello!  I'm Mr. Carroll and this is my tenth year of teaching elementary students.  This is my seventh year as a 5th grade teacher and fifth year at Brandon Valley Intermediate School!  I also coach 7th grade boys basketball.

I grew up in Brandon and graduated from Brandon Valley High School in 2005.  After high school I went to college in Vermillion, SD at the University of South Dakota.  At USD, I majored in Elementary Education and Special Education and graduated in December 2009.  Before attaining my job at BVIS, I was employed at Sioux Falls Community Campus as a special education teacher.  I worked with students 18-21 years old building skills in money management, daily living, and functional reading.  It is an amazing program and was a great way to begin my teaching career.  I then took my talents eastward and headed to RBE.  There I taught 1st grade for 3 years and 5th grade for 2 years.

I am married to my wonderful wife, Emily, who is also a teacher in the district.  She teaches math at the high school. We have one son named William.  He just turned 6 years old this summer. This year Will began Kindergarten at BE. We have another son who turned 2 in May. His name is Thomas. Recently, he has entered the stage of never sitting down! He is always moving and we love it.....to a point. Last February, my wife and I had another baby and finally got our girl.  Her name is Margaret and doesn't stop smiling!  She is worth all the late nights! They have changed our lives and kept us on our toes.  I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.  We also have one dog.  Her name is Sterling and she is a lab/cane corso mix.  "No!" is a word that has been used frequently around the house with the kids and dog!

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy being with my friends and family, watching movies, playing games, and cheering for my four Wisconsin teams: Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Badgers.
